We hold the San Diego Stand Down Clinic at the annual Homeless Veteran Stand down at San Diego High School. This is the original Stand Down, having held its first event in 1988. We are honored provide services to homeless veterans and their families at the event at the forefront of ending veteran homelessness.
Our volunteers served at this event in 2018 and 2019.
In our first year of service at the 2018 San Diego Stand Down, we were able to provide 335 pairs of glasses to 190 veterans and their families, worth over $70,000 in equivalent care.
In 2019, we expanded to include dental services alongside the returning optometry. Over 80 volunteers were able to provide 345 pairs of glasses to 206 veterans and their families, worth over $71,000 in care.
We were also able to offer over $45,000 in dental care to 125 veterans and their families.
